JOB TRAINER'S ROLE

After a client is hired by an employer in Marin County, Job Trainers provide 1:1 support for those individuals as they learn the ropes of their new job and become an independent, integrated employee. Job Trainers have the exciting opportunity to provide support in a wide range of employment settings, from the IT department at City Hall to the kitchen at Nordstrom's Blue Stove restaurant. The depth of and length of a Job Trainer's involvement changes case by case, but support always fades as the client becomes more independent.

Full-time positions with benefits or part-time positions are available (benefits outlined below). Because our clients need support at different times, flexible scheduling can include weekends and evenings. Location of work will vary between the ICS office and client work sites in Marin County. Pay range is $14.50-$17.00/hour, DOE.

DUTIES

  • Attend new employee training sessions with your client, ensuring that both the employer and the client are on the same page about job duties and expectations
  • Observe and evaluate your client at work, providing constructive feedback and demonstrating how to think critically to complete tasks
  • Act as a support for not only your client, but also the employer, who may have questions or concerns, and assist both parties in communicating with one another
  • Train your client in all skills necessary to perform the job, including: vocational skills, transportation training, safety training, social skills, accessing community resources, money management, behavior management, social security, etc.
  • Teach clients how to problem solve when challenges arise on the job, including concerns with managers, co-workers or job duties
  • Complete all required forms on time

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a positive, motivating role model for all ICS clients.
  • Always take a person centered approach, allowing those we serve to shape how they receive support.
  • High school graduate with at least two years’ experience working with persons with disabilities or in a teaching profession is preferred. Experience may be substituted for education on a case by case basis.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written skills, be resourceful, adaptable and able to work within deadlines.
  • Valid California Driver's license with proof of insurance required. Background check will be conducted.
  • Willingness to be flexible in work schedule assignments.
  • Basic computer literacy required, including email and Microsoft Office programs.
