Life Skills Tutor Position Details

As a Living Skills Tutor, you will provide 1:1 instruction in daily living skills to a young man with Autism. The majority of work will be done in his family’s home where you will teach domestic skills. You will also go out into the community with him to exercise (swimming, gym, tennis, hiking, etc.), as well as transport him to and supervise him at volunteer sites. This role also has the exciting opportunity to create the training curriculum for this client. The work with this individual will be approximately 30 hours per week, and an additional client, training, mentoring, and developing curriculum will make up the remainder of your schedule.

This job is a part- or full-time position, 20-40 hours per week. Hours will be 8am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Location will vary between the ICS office, client homes and other sites in Marin County. Pay range is $18.00 -$21.00/hour, DOE.

DUTIES

  • Assess client's current independent living skills and work together with client and supervisors to develop ongoing curriculum

  • Train clients 1:1 around their goals, including:

    • Transportation training

    • Domestic skills training

    • Community / communication skills training

    • Financial skills training

    • Personal health and hygiene skills training

    • Keep detailed progress notes after each session and update the client's file on the computer

  • Complete and submit all forms on time, including monthly and annual reports

  • Attend case conferences with clients, families and other agencies they work with

  • Attend staff meetings to discuss current cases and brainstorm creative solutions to challenges

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic computer literacy, specifically with Gmail and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Valid California driver's license with proof of insurance required, background check will be conducted
