LIFE SKILLS TUTOR POSITION DETAILS

Life Skills Trainers (called Independent Living Skills, or ILS, Trainers) provide one-on-one daily living training to individuals with disabilities as they work towards their personal goals and overall independence. These individuals will typically be living with their parents and the training will take place in the family home. Training can range from teaching cooking skills, to teaching financial literacy, to training on how to use the bus system.

This job is a part-time, 20 - 30 hours per week position, $20-$24/hr. You must be available Tuesday mornings (mandatory staff meeting), and shifts will range from approximately 12-7pm, with flexible weekday and weekend scheduling available. Location will vary between the ICS office, client homes and other sites in Marin County.

DUTIES

  • Train clients around their goals, such as transportation training, domestic skills, socialization, financial skills, personal health and hygiene

  • Perform and write assessments as needed

  • Keep detailed progress notes after each session and update the client's file on the computer

  • Complete and submit all forms on time, including monthly and annual reports

  • Attend case conferences with clients, families and other agencies they work with if necessary

  • Attend staff meetings to discuss current cases and brainstorm creative solutions to challenges

Qualifications

  • At least one year Teaching, tutoring, or similar experience

  • Basic computer literacy, specifically with Gmail and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Valid California driver's license with proof of insurance required, background check will be conducted
