For our May Newsletter, ICS would like to honor one of our dear former staff members, Nelson Kimber, who passed away on April 14th.
Nelson is remembered so fondly for the many years he spent as a job coach at ICS, imparting his incredible knowledge and deep wisdom to the people he served with a sense of warmth, dignity and respect for every person he came across.
ICS’ founder, Donna Lemmon said “I am forever grateful for Nelson Kimber. His life was a reflection of humility, service, and genuine care for others. His love and respect for those he worked with will always be remembered.”
Our Employment Programs Director Lisa Newmark said “Nelson was a gifted job coach. From the moment we started working together, back in 2000, I knew that he would be my teacher as well. He was a natural at knowing how to make job tasks accessible for a client. And his attention to detail was amazing - he just didn't miss a beat. His clients felt so supported by him, and his co-workers would always look to him for ideas. It was such an honor to work with Nelson and his legacy at ICS will always be remembered."
Kathy Roshan Moreno, ICS’ Case Management Services Director said “ Nelson was my first mentor at ICS. He always led with kindness and the utmost respect, regardless of whom he was working with. His attention to detail was unmatched, and his patience and willingness made him the best advocate our clients could work with. He cared deeply about his client's success and their approach to navigating work and life with such care and precision.”
Nelson is survived by his wife Kathy who said “He was one of the really good ones. And he loved the work he did so much. He wanted his clients to be seen and respected in society and thought that having a job was one way to facilitate that.”
