Dear Friends,
For over 30 years ICS has provided employment and community living services that transform the lives of people with disabilities in Marin. We connect people like Jessy and JulieAnn (pictured below) to jobs, housing and community while nurturing the relationships that are foundational to healthy and meaningful lives.
Right now critical state and federal decisions will determine the future of food, housing, healthcare and community services for more than 500,000 Californians with disabilities, including the 400 people who count on ICS every day. The proposed cuts threaten 40% of ICS’ funding and the stability our community relies on.
But these decisions are not final. Your support, combined with our collective action, can help protect disability services in California.
This holiday season we are raising $100,000 to sustain our services and lead the advocacy required to protect them. In addition to fueling the daily, life-changing support we provide, these funds will train and equip ICS self-advocates, like Jessy and JulieAnn, to share their stories with legislative decision makers and defend the services that benefit thousands across the state.
Once a client, Jessy is now a Specialist at ICS who teaches others to share their stories and advocate for themselves. Here’s Jessy at the capitol after speaking with legislators about why disability services matter.
You are a vital part of this work. Whether your gift is $10 or $10,000, your support helps ensure that people with disabilities have the future they need and deserve.
With support from ICS, JulieAnn studied for her driver’s license, bought her first car and now earns a living driving for Lyft. Here she’s proudly holding up her license paperwork outside the DMV.
